About

New Ways of Seeing is the eagerly awaited first solo show from UK urban art collective STATIC. It will feature new work which sees STATIC develop and explore familiar themes which aim to challenge the audience to rethink and re-evaluate their perceptions of art, society, authority, allure and survival. The title of their show is a reference to a highly regarded book and television series from the 1970's, 'Ways of Seeing' by art critic, novelist, painter and author John Berger. STATIC is made up of two art school friends who have been working together for the past 5 years. Primarily working in the fields of screen printing and stencil art, they have also printed work for established artists such as Peter Kennard whose heavily political and satirical work had a resounding influence on their early exposure to subversive image making. Their work combines elements of street art and fine art, merging their clean graphic style with stencils, spray paint, screen-printing and paint brushes, to create unique pieces which have been exhibited on the streets of London as well as a number of international gallery spaces.
