STATES OF EMERGENCY | EXHIBITION @ MOMENTUM, KUNSTQUARTIER BETHANIEN | 18 INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS FROM 13 COUNTRIES | VIDEO ART, PERFORMANCE, INSTALLATION AND BEYOND

About

States of Emergency brings to MOMENTUM’s gallery space in Kunstquartier Bethanien and online on MOMENTUM’s IkonoTV channel the works of 18 international artists from 13 countries, joining forces to answer a pressing question: What is the role of the artist in a state of emergency?

Making its way from the ashes of the world that once was, this multimedia and gallery exhibition calls to artists as cultural first-responders, asking them to translate the felt experience of our time into visual languages, making sense of our precarious times through video art, performance, photography, installation and beyond.

_________

«States of Emergency compiles artistic responses to a decade of global environmental and political crisis, [...] bringing together works made since the start of the pandemic, reflecting on the catastrophes of our time and their far-ranging effects»

                                 ■  Rachel Rits-Volloch
