Opening Night Thursday April 1st, 6 - 10pm, Exhibition runs, 1/04/10 - 05/05/10 Dalston Superstore, 117 Kingsland rd, E8 2PB R.S.V.P: info@splitcream.com Info: Mathew Humphrey - 07895079169 WWW.SPLITCREAM.COM This April Dalston based art-worker, Mathew Humphrey curates a screen print exhibition celebrating it's continuous relationship to left field music. The work on display pays respect to print making as a process and visual tool used by the musicians in developing an individual identity. This process decorates music culture with a distinctly visual yet rough casual desire which is present within promotional material, album covers and tour memorabilia. Screen printing exists today within music culture and is informed by trends within fine art, illustration, graphic design and fashion. These printed works comment on and live in the culture of its time whilst still enduring longevity. It's popularity as a process within the context of music is always enthused and its relationship goes from strength to strength . Within this show the hand crafted feel and aesthetic of screen print is the core interest shared between artist, viewer and musician. Based around this open theme artists were invited to submit an eclectic collection of print based works encompassing packaging and promotional designs, art prints, sketches and random oddities. The work has either been produced by way of artist collaboration with record labels / musicians or through a united interest between the link that that binds music to the medium of print.
