Axel Obiger is delighted to invite you to a special event for our current exhibition CHEZ AXEL: “More Moor”, Anja Fiedler (sustainable food art artist) and “Parallelprotokolle”, Stefie Steden | AG Minimales Reisen
Wednesday, January 29, 2025, starting at 7 pm
“More Moor”, Anja Fiedler (sustainable food art artist)
“Parallelprotokolle”, Stefie Steden | AG Minimales Reisen
During this evening of performance, food, and reflection, you can savor the experimental dessert “more moor” prepared by sustainable food artist Anja Fiedler, take on some food for thought regarding sustainability in food production, and enjoy a reading of “Parallel Protokolle” by Stefie Steden | AG Minimales Reisen.
In addition, please feel free to have a look at the ongoing exhibition, meet some of the artists, and enjoy a good chat.
More info on performances:
In her performance “more moor,” sustainable food artist Anja Fiedler will be serving up edible peat as a surprising and tasty treat for the palate. The peat will be served in three phases, aligning with the current states of peat in the world today: fresh and moist, as thawing permafrost, and flamed. Never eaten peat? Indirectly, we eat it every day. Although damaged peatlands are among the most potent emitters of CO2, wet peatlands are highly effective for climate protection. Garnished with facts, the food becomes both delicious temptation and thought-provoking fare. Questions and changes of perspective arise, which can be absorbed, quite literally, along with the food.
Peat times: 19:45, 20:15, 20:45
Stefie Steden | AG Minimales Reisen will read from her Kochbuch (cookbook) edition of “Parallelprotokolle.” Parallel protocols (PP for short) are collaborative texts about places and – at the same time – a studio for the real-life production of contemporary history. Two to five co-writers, with or without writing experience, record a place and the surrounding events for 20 minutes – along with everything that goes through their minds. This results in anonymous, chronologically continuous, polyphonic texts.
Reading time: 19:15
CHEZ AXEL
In complicated times, the act of coming together with others takes on a particular urgency. Getting together, exchanging ideas and experiencing face-to-face encounters allows us to work through, understand and process our reality, and thus position ourselves in relation to it. There are few locations better suited to this than the kitchen, a place of transformation and pleasure, hospitality and solace. It is known for being the heart of the party precisely because we linger there in (relaxed) conversation, perhaps while looking for something to eat or pulling another bottle out of the fridge.
For CHEZ AXEL, we have transposed this idea of the private kitchen into a quasi-public space. The participating artists each received a recipe from Axel Obiger, which they could then respond to in their own way – be that through a process of interpretation, modelling, or transformation. The exhibition was installed on the day of the opening – cooked up in a flash, as it were. Visitors can expect a “feast” of art; please come and join us.
CHEZ AXEL exhibition until February 8th 2025 at Axel Obiger, Brunnenstr. 29, 10119 Berlin, Th - Sa 3–7 pm and by appointment / www.axelobiger.com / @axelobiger
