Lose yourself in a colourful world of abstract paintings and prints at Spaces in Between, an exhibition of works by Delyth Bolt, Linda Simmonds and Jenny Blanchard.
About
Lose yourself in a colourful world of abstract paintings and prints at Spaces in Between, an exhibition of works by three London-based artists currently on display at the Hackney Picturehouse Gallery.
Delyth Bolt creates figures from abstract marks and random gestures using layers of oil paint glazes. Her work reflects the surrealist approach to drawing and painting that allows the subconscious to guide the mark making rather than the conscious mind, this can result in figures that appear precarious and unbalanced.
Jenny Blanchard's work relies on the pleasure of chance. Moving ink around with the blunt end of a pencil, fingers or a roller, she searches to reveal a glimpse, a fragment of oddity or an unnoticed vista. Each one is unique, each one a private view.
Linda Simmonds paintings evolve through an ongoing visual response placing layers of repeated forms or marks on the canvas. The chaotic process unearths unexpected elements that may be incorporated or discarded along the way. The end result is determined by the visual 'wholeness' of the canvas.
Placed together, these three artists' work presents a mesmerising and compelling journey through form, texture and possibility. All exhibits are available for purchase and can be delivered to local addresses.
The exhibition is open until 22 February 2019.
