About
Space, Place and Home is an exhibition exploring themes in contemporary art, craft and design. The show brings together a group of artists who make work in a variety of media including painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramic and photography. The works on display explore ideas around location and environment and each artist showcases their own interpretation of these themes from within their practise. This collaboration creates an exciting dialogue between the artists in the show and draws stimulating parallels between styles, ideas and approaches. In this context,
space is where the artist, artwork and viewer meet. It is the physical gallery space and the mental space where ideas are shared and explored.
Place is the site of creativity. It can be a place for making and includes collecting, sketching, imagining, stitching, spray painting, printing, sculpting and observing.
Home can be thought of as a place of comfort and change and a launchpad for creativity. The group are currently working for or closely connected with the arts and health charity;
Paintings in Hospitals. Paintings in Hospitals is a national charity which uses art to inspire better health and wellbeing for patients and carers across the UK.
