About

SOUTH TOWER SOCIAL at the Old Mayfair Carpet Gallery, 15th January - 28th March, 2010 301-303 Borough High Street London SE1 6JG United Kingdom www.omcg.org www.southtowersocial.com The Old Mayfair Carpet Gallery is a project space and pop-up gallery founded by 3 artists, Chris Land, Eden Mitsenmacher and Patrick Staff, with a view to work with and exhibit a number of emerging London artists and groups who are local to Southwark and surrounding South London. The space will open on January 15th 2010 with the exhibition SOUTH TOWER SOCIAL, the work and space expanding with latent unease and a veneer of duplicity: alluding to forced resorts, whispered fictional no-where spaces and counter-culture movements, historical speakeasies and obscurist conspiracy theories. The part time street social procures opportunities for a selection of emerging London artists and curators to stage regular performances, film screenings and interior and exterior interventionist installation. The Private View will take place on January 14th from 7pm, with a group installation by Chris Land, Eden Mitsenmacher and Patrick Staff and the publishing of the full calendar of events that take place throughout the programme. Free weekly collaborative events, in varying mediums, will be hosted by: Sophie Brown and Cathrine Evelid / Blue Curry / Tom Hickman / South London Warlords / Grace Schofield / Coin Street Heritage Project / Irene Revell / South East London Folklore Society / Gail Pickering / with more tbc Contact: info@southtowersocial.com PRIVATE VIEW: 14th January 2010, 7pm onwards OPENING HOURS: 11 - 6 Thursday to Saturday Noon - 4 Sunday Travel information: Train: London Bridge, Elephant and Castle Tube: Elephant and Castle, Borough, London Bridge Buses: 21 35 40 133 343 N35 N133 and N343
