Sound and Vision is a group show curated by Robert Dunt which features artists inspired by music, musicians who make art and sound and video pieces by contemporary experimental musicians, composers and artists.
About
Art has always been inspired by music. Kandinsky’s ground breaking abstract paintings were inspired by the classical music of Schöenberg in the early 1900s. With the rise of rock and roll, rap, indie and heavy metal there is a huge new range of music for contemporary artists to be inspired by. This exhibition aims to show how contemporary visual artists are still stimulated by music.
The creative worlds are now also far more open and cross fertilisation is rife. Many musicians also make visual art and experimental musicians, composers and artists make songs and sound pieces that can be considered art. The exhibition aims to bring all these kinds of contemporary creativity together to make a show where music meets art.
