About

The Mendication Corporation is a fabulation in finance and a curatorial framework expressly lacking in care. As a functioning micro-furnace of the big society it unites incapability artists in producing indefensible artworks without consequence or conviction. The Souchocrat's Diktat is a minimal, divisive intervention in the cell block of the Old Police Station, Deptford, that sees an eastern European arriviste tarry the memory of her dead grandmothers while toying with the souvenirs of other people's nans and other nations' mourning rites. All participating artists are departed. A sculptural installation for the retiling of relics steers away from the carceral and clinical to candied gloss instead (elaboration of the ginger-rhizomatic photographic process). While an improv music performance for theremin, sawing machine and YouTube hum quietly clamours over and above the cell-o-tape. Among the aesthetic excesses that are being extruded in suspect situations are a sünnet cabaret, a Shi'a shibbo-letting, and the sanctifying of a sweatshop-sauna. Inauspiciously tapped, potential-spoken-word completes the quarto. Curated by Tzvetana Marinova With the kind financial backing of The Mendication Corporation
