STPI is proud to showcase a selection of works by Cheong Soo Pieng. The highly acclaimed artist is known to have pioneered the first generation of art movement in Singapore as the proponent of the Nanyang style of art, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1962. As the pacesetter of the city's earliest artistic identity, his legacy and lectures are the roots of our modern Singaporean art scene. On loan from private collections across Singapore, this exhibition will feature a range of paintings to works on paper, highlighting his progression and development as an artist.
