Sonic Territories 2022 is making Seestadt a stage for experimental electronic music for the fifth time this year. With a concentrated daytime and evening program, the music and art festival focuses for three days on intimate explorations between music, performance and audiovisual art at several locations in Seestadt.

Under the multi-layered title "Soundness" – which means "sonority", but also "security" and "stability" artists and audience are invited to embark on a journey into moments of confidence and unity. 

“This year’s music and art program is built around the feeling of growing discomfort and responds to this process with peace. Sounds and performances aim to deal with the discord between dissonance and harmony, reforming it into healing”, explains artistic director Mimie Maggale.

DAYTIME PROGRAM 
At the Eva-Maria Mazzucco-Platz, the focus is on video installations, virtual reality and digital art. Under the direction of Jakob Hütter (artistic director, Hand mit Auge), the artists Tina Kult (DE) and Klimentina Li (BG), among others, present their works dealing with the exploitation of mind and body and questioning the foundation of our virtual selves.

SOUND PERFORMANCES in cooperation with Sounds Queer? deep listening sessions in homage to Pauline Oliveros will take place on two days. “Invoking Angels” by Daphne X (GR/AT) is also participatory – the artist negotiates the relationships between human and non-human actors, new technologies and spirituality.

MOBILE RESEARCH STATION at Aspern Nord: As part of the SONIC TERRITORIES Festival, Stephanie Winter & SALON HYBRID are positioning their mobile "research station to explore the psyche of the earth" and are opening the VIBRANT MATTER LAB for human and non-human matters for the first time. It is a multidisciplinary playground inspired by living systems and organisms that move freely between artistic research and experimental and collaborative practice.

SPECIALS
Specials such as the RAD performance (a sound ride from the Praterstern to Seestadt) to the Eastern Bloc sound compilation We Stand With Ukraine by artist Opal Opal (RO) followed by a live concert by Oliver Torr (CZ), as well as electro yoga by Seba Kayan at the lake are a perfect addition to this year’s program.

LIVE-SETS / FABRIK
Penetrating sounds by exceptional artists such as digital artist Kenji Araki and female:pressure founder Electric Indigoas well as the international sound artists Aho Ssan (FR), Hüma Utku (TR) and Kate Carr (UK) become an intimate experience at Fabrik. (Tickets now on sale www.sonic-territories.at
