Somewhere I live, is a group exhibition exploring our connection to, and what we have taken time to notice about, our local environments in the midst of global crisis.
About
Somewhere I Live opens on Friday 18th September at 3pm, where you can meet artists included in the show. The will be a live performance of poetry on 25th September.
The exhibition connects artists living across Newham and Tower Hamlets; co-curated by participating artists, Adeyam Tsehaye & Judith Kusi.
Works will be displayed indoors and outdoors. Please book slot for indoor gallery space so that we can remain COVID aware.
The two adjoining boroughs share a long history, and sandwiched between them is a community hub which saw a growth in use during lockdown. The location of the exhibition, Cody Dock, draws our attention to spaces within and between our communities, which act as wellbeing promoting places.
Somewhere I Live is an exhibition underpinned by the spirit of current social movements (BLM, allyship), and holds in mind the enduring psychological impact on us all, in the midst of the global health crisis. The exhibition aims to connect members of our communities together, through exploration of our connection to, and what we have taken time to notice about, our local environments.
Artworks exhibited will depict interpretations from local artists on the spaces they inhabit.
Works will be displayed indoors and outdoors. Please book slot for indoor gallery space so that we can remain COVID aware.
