About
'My inspiration comes from simply life itself…Too often people don't realise just how precious 'life' actually is'
A serious painter for a number of years, Muswell Hill based Theresa has in the past eight years made painting her life.
Unabashedly she declares her Schizophrenia, championing mental health awareness. Her condition is very hard to manage with at times, but painting is a therapy and Theresa works tirelessly at her trade daily, 'It's a place to feel totally free and create paintings that people take notice of and enjoy.'
Painting in oils and acrylics, she wields the palette knife; sculpting, moulding and reworking the paint into an explosion of colourful abstraction from everyday scenes. Resulting in thick impasto paintings that yearn to get closer to their viewer.
Theresa has featured regularly in the local press with previous exhibitions and has both judged and awarded Muswell Hill arts prizes.
In her exhibition 'Somehow I was saved' she pays tribute to the charity MIND, who have supported her on her mental health journey. Half of every sale will be donated to MIND charity so others can access the support they need and to raise the profile of mental health in an attempt to continue reducing the stigma attached to discussing mental health openly and proudly, such as Theresa Monagle has.
