About
This is Stephens 1st solo show at Nelly Duff.
Stephen (aka) SAD is an enigma in that he does not fit into a classic school of artist. Self taught and strong in his visual language and self epxression; Stephens work is inspired by the everyday, masculinity identity and observing life.
Immediate, yet graphic, Stephens graphic works evoke smiles, thought and conversation. Works on vintage ledger sheets that are are over 120 years old, show boxers of that era proudly posing and projecting there masculinity with all it's vulnerabilities. Stephens use of line and text communincates a string sense of expression and wit. His works on paper covers topics such as class, cross culture fertilisation, gentrificatin and more. Stephen is best know for his works on paper, however he is works on wood, the found object and canvas. Visit this show and be inspired.
