The JSP Art Gallery in Prague presents "Isaura," a solo exhibition featuring the extraordinary work of Italian artist Enrico Minguzzi. This exhibition promises an insightful exploration of the intricate interplay between the visible and the hidden aspects of art

About

Inspired by one of the fantastical cities from Italo Calvino's renowned book, "Invisible Cities," the exhibition's title, "Isaura," reflects the profound themes present in both Calvino’s writing and Enrico Minguzzi’s art. Curator Lucia Rossi emphasizes the parallels between Minguzzi's work and Calvino’s investigations into the fundamental truths that shape human existence and society. She notes that Minguzzi's pieces invite contemplation on the core realities that underpin life, contrasting dynamic living forms with stillness and inanimate objects, revealing a beauty rooted in deeper, often obscured significances. Rossi invokes Schopenhauer’s notion that "truth lies in the deep," highlighting how Minguzzi’s creations draw their allure from an engagement with profound, hidden dimensions.

Minguzzi approaches his artistic endeavors through a unique lens akin to phenomenological exploration. His methodology involves a meticulous deconstruction and reconstruction of his subjects, which enhances their inherent fluidity and vitality.

With a masterful command of color, texture, and form, Minguzzi beckons viewers into a mysterious realm. His works, described as "detours of nature," present landscapes that fluctuate between disorder and serenity, with each element resonating in its own distinct way, inviting new interpretations. The exhibition encapsulates a fusion of the organic and the artificial, where real components merge with imaginative constructs.

The artist's creations engage in a meaningful dialogue about contemporary themes related to environment and identity. Although cities like Isaura may not exist in the physical realm, they thrive within the shared imagination, crafting transient utopias that explore broader, unseen realities. Just as Kublai Khan reflects on Marco Polo’s narratives in Calvino’s stories, visitors are invited into Minguzzi’s enigmatic world, engaging with its elusive yet compelling truths.

The JSP Art Gallery cordially invites you to experience "Isaura," featuring new works by Enrico Minguzzi that delve into themes of the unseen and the buried, encouraging an immersive journey into the depths of artistic expression.
