Soft Und Hart features six new works in which Silva Flandez confronts the topic of school shootings
About
The main protagonists are various cute-looking creatures, surrounded and equipped with AR-15 firearms. The title Soft Und Hart is reflected in the individual stylistic devices used by Silva Flandez in his paintings. The characters are composed of beads or bubble wrap, to refer to childhood as the softest time in a person's life, while the beads indicate how children in the US are hardened due to failed gun laws.
As in previous works, Silva Flandez mainly uses black and white. Due to his color blindness, he gradually approaches working with color. The individual works in this series are named after the animal protagonists: Helga, Norbert, Sally, Misha, Loris.. The artist deliberately omits more concrete titles.
Daniel Silva Flandez (b. 1994) lives and works in Vienna, Austria. Since 2018 he studies at the Academy of fine arts, in the class of Daniel Richter. In the past, Silva Flandez’s work has been shown at Alba Gallery (2022), Parallel Vienna (2019, 2020, 2021), Helmuts Club (2020)
