About

We are pleased to announce our first exhibition at STANDALONE, a new artist-led members space opening on Friday 30th May. The group show ’Soft Power’ features multidisciplinary Los Angeles, New York and London-based artists: Ekaterina Bazhenova-Yamasaki, Vivienne Griffin, Umi Ishihara, Camilla Salvatore and Sara Kabiri & Shahram Saadat.

As we approach the last days of spring, the collaborative show both signals a new life for the space and is a vessel for the underlying themes of exile and emancipation across the artists’ works. As an underground DIY space for diverse forms of experimentation, the term ‘multidisciplinary’ continually expands - making real world possibilities via the local and digital scale for a much-needed new independent space in east London.

The launch event will see specially commissioned live performances from Ben Shirken aka Ex-Wiish of 29Speedway (NYC), the debut collaboration between Kinn + Kenichi Iwasa, and Laila Sakini (Modern Love / Total Stasis).
