Soft kill

About

Softkill investigates the relationships between two seemingly disparate areas: natural history and the military. The exhibition is an exploration of radar technology and its ability to identify a target, (both historical and contemporary), along with the countermeasures deployed to protect that target. The exhibition presents a range of hand-made radar countermeasures capable of creating false echoes on the radar unit that, in theory could prevent foxes, grey squirrels, birds of prey, crows and magpies from being detected. The countermeasures will be juxtaposed with taxidermy specimens in order to create a surreal diorama; merging fact with fiction, the bizarre with the real. The installation will also include photography, moving image and sound recordings of various species. Open: Monday — Friday, 9.30am — 5.30pm Saturday, 9.30am — 3.30pm Venue: Art and Design Gallery Admission: Free
