Snaps Is the Name of the Game or A Few Words on Secret Writing is a collaborative project that examines the role of the artist as both coder and decoder — finding meaning where there may be none and communicating enigmatic messages that want nothing if not to be deciphered. With only a glance, this exhibition by Kyung Hwa Shon, Hiu Tung Lau, Hana Yun, Woody Mellor and Jinyong Park may seem to have about it an air of inscrutable secrecy. This, like any other cypher, is designed to both deceive and reveal. For some, the difficulty might be great, to others however — to those skilled in deciphering, and those whom possess the key — such enigmas can be very simple indeed. After all, it is just a game and Snaps is the name.
