Flowers Gallery is delighted to announce the 34th edition of the annual Small is Beautiful exhibition, which will take place at the Cork Street gallery.
About
Small is Beautiful, which was first established at Flowers Gallery in 1974, invites selected contemporary artists working in any media to present works with a fixed economy of scale, each piece measuring a maximum of 7 x 9 inches.
On display at the Cork Street gallery will be over 100 works, offering a rare opportunity to discover the work of lesser-known artists alongside internationally recognised names.
The exhibition includes sculptures by Glenys Barton, (whose recently acquired ceramic half-length portrait of Baroness Joan Bakewell was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery earlier this year); new hand-embroidered and altered found photographs by Julie Cockburn (John Moores Painting Prize 2016 nominee); and works by recently selected artists from the 2016 edition of Artist of the Day.
This year all of the works from Small is Beautiful will be available to purchase online for the first time, to mark the launch of Flowers Gallery’s new online store on 6 December, which will also feature a curated selection of limited edition prints.
