Slow Art Day takes place in 100s of galleries and museums around the world. It is designed simply to get more people looking at art.
You will have the opportunity to look at a set number of Jerwood Drawing Prize artworks for 10 minutes each. You will be given some questions to think about whilst looking at the artworks. This is all about learning to look slowly and carefully at artwork, hopefully realising that, as Henry David Thoreau once said, ‘it is not what you look at that matters, but what you see.’ The morning session is suitable for anyone aged 16+. The afternoon session is suitable for accompanied children and families.
