Local Artist exhibits her paintings in our Boiler Room
About
Cathryn has grown up in Oxfordshire and has had a love for art right from an early age; the majority of her childhood memories are of drawing and colouring in pictures!
Cathryn thoroughly looked forward to art lessons at school as she was eager to learn different techniques and experiment with an assortment of materials. Cathryn later went on to complete an Art and Craft A level, National Diploma and finally a Packaging Design Degree.
Living and working in the North East of England for 12 years as a Packaging Designer, Cathryn started painting again as a hobby and returned back to Oxfordshire in 2009. Since then she has been pursuing her passion for art as her main career and now exhibits locally in various galleries and attends many Art and Craft Fairs.
Cathryn’s canvases are inspired by the nature that surrounds us. She gathers inspiration when out walking or travelling to recreate a piece of art. She applies natural materials such as sand and plaster to add interest with texture giving the painting depth; this allows her to build up layers of paint through dry brushing and experiment with colour creating interesting contours of colour and texture together. This creation of depth and detail allows her paintings to be admired from both close up and afar.
The ink and watercolour range captures interesting local and visited scenes, using an array of experimental techniques to create interesting details such as splashes, masking, water spraying and sponging.
