From July 5th until August 25th, the NGK is organizing the exhibition of the artist Sislej Xhafa titled love you without knowing, curated by Jérôme Sans. “love you without knowing" is the first exhibition of the Kosovar internationally acclaimed artist Sislej Xhafa in his native country. Born in 1970 in Peja, he has lived a nomadic existence since leaving Kosovo in the early 1990s. As the introspective journey through his unique universe, this major retrospective is a declaration of love from the artist to his homeland, to its fragility, strength, vitality, and violence. With an ironic and subversive approach that draws on multiple mediums from painting and drawing to sculpture and installation, Xhafa subtly and consistently drew attention to the invisible and often unjust systems that structure our lives. Spanning his career from the 1990s to the present, the exhibition comprises about 15 iconic works and new productions, which are flexible enough to lend themselves to the possibilities of a re-enactment. This process of the revivification of the works is made at the local level by producing them on site with Kosovar people and the artist.
