Tasarım Bakkalı presents Miguel Sopena's new body of work ”Sing, O Goddess, the Wrath” for the September Exhibition.
About
'Sing, O goddess, the wrath of Achilles son of Peleus...' is the well-known beginning of the Iliad, the epic poem composed by Homer that describes a Greek expedition against the city of Troy, believed to be a real event which took place at some point in or around the 12thcentury BC. Homer's works, the Iliad and the Odyssey, turn ancient facts into living, breathing tales of loss, pain, love and endless struggle. My project, based on the human figure, is an attempt to capture the emotion expressed in Homer's works and perhaps to look back with compassion and humanity at the long and tortuous history shared by the nations of the Mediterranean basin.
