Simon Lehner | I'm a liar, but a good one

"I'm a liar, but a good one", states Simon Lehner. The title of his solo exhibition at KOENIG2 investigates questions of memory, truth, trauma, authorship and artistic production, which are expressed in a reduced setting of four works. There is no classical photography to be seen, but the wall objects and animations appear to be related to painting. The starting material for his work, anchored in the autobiographical - mostly integrated photographs from the artist's childhood and youth - forms the basis of an inverted visual genesis. Simon Lehner thus forms a work process that arises from the dialogue between memories and consciousness. (Andrea Kopranovic, 2021)
