Erskine, Hall & Coe are delighted to present Murlach, an exhibition of new works by Simon Kidd.
About
Kidd is a Northern Irish artist who grew up in Belfast and is now based in Dublin. He studied fine art in Belfast and Bristol before graduating with a Ceramic Design degree from Central Saint Martins in London in 2018. He spent much of his childhood in the countryside, which is a defining characteristic of his ceramics.
Murlach Bay, in County Antrim of Northern Ireland, is a place that Simon Kidd has visited regularly for many years. The bay became a catalyst for contemplation and the source of inspiration for this exhibition of new work. Kidd's response to the landscape is reflected in the work - he brings "the place into the piece."
The beauty of the Irish landscape has been a lodestone for Simon Kidd’s work from the beginning. He recently wrote that his work "is a response to Northern Ireland as a country in terms of both the civilisation as well as the physical land it encompasses. It is a reflection and a response of the physical, historic, and symbolic."
Viewing is by appointment only. Please contact mail@ehc.art or +44 (0) 20 7491 1706 to make an appointment.
Our opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 4pm.
