About

“Forms are real, even though they are invisible, because they have the potential to appear in the empirical world and act in it...the empirical world is an emanation out of a cosmic realm of potentiality, whose forms can appear as physical structures in the external world and as archetypal concepts in our mind. Accordingly, the evolution of life now appears no longer as a process of the adaptation of species to their environment, but as the adaptation of minds to increasingly complex forms that exist in the cosmic potentiality. The cosmic connection means that the human mind is a mystical mind.”

—Diogo Valadas Ponte & Lothar Schäfer*

At the hour of the night when reality becomes whatever you want it to be, I pray to the pure and perfumed heroines. I begin the performance, balancing the horror with the joy. I watch the lady in the television become eternal, not assuming form. A mythical being, an icon of love. Starlets with painted eyebrows, sacred swollen chandeliers and sword swallowers. A mystical vision emerges into space, consciousness appears outside the mind, unbound to our bodies. Truth twisted and veiled, sunken and silkscreened with a projection of our past. A constant distortion of the present, taking form of our worst nightmares or greatest dreams. Every thought a choice. Life is no longer about survival. Life has become the adaptation of the mind, to higher consciousness. Adoration of self becomes the modern religion. Self preservation and evolvement replace offerings and prayer. Like a funhouse mirror, reality is subjective. With fragments of distortion, surrealism and mysticism, this show conceits a performance of the mind. Silver Screen is meant to remove the veil separating physical reality from the infinite reality of dreams and cosmic forms.
