This is a hands on two-day intensive course on Silicone Mould Making, focusing on casting and mould making using silicone rubber moulds. Recommended for beginners or those with some experience.
About
How to make two different types of silicone moulds that can be used to cast multiple different materials in high volume. Please bring two objects – 1 no bigger that your thumb and relatively simple in form (such as a battery) and a second object, no bigger than a grapefruit that can be of more interest (such as a toy).
What Will I Do
Day 1
Introduction to the material and an overview of what it is used for.
We will then make our first simple block mould using the smallest object to understand mixing ratios and pouring. After this we will move onto making the first half of a 2-part flexible mould with a rigid plaster jacket. To finish the day we will demould and cast into the block moulds using a variety of materials (Plaster, wax, concrete)
Day 2
Completion of the 2nd half of the 2-part mould. To finish the day we will aim to demould the objects and cast into them.
