Sarah Wiseman Gallery is delighted to announce Signs of Spring, and the arrival of fresh new artworks in an exciting showcase.

About

'Lighter and warmer days are ahead and our thoughts turn to bright colour and fresh ideas,' says gallery director Sarah Wiseman.  In this exhibition, you'll discover new paintings and glass art by gallery artists Daniel Ablitt, Bee Bartlett, Andrew Hood, Alison Pullen, Sarah Spackman and Helen Slater.

'All of the artists featured in the showcase have been working with us for a number of years, and are some of our most sought-after painters and makers. They are part of the fabric of the gallery, so we are especially excited to bring out this collection for Spring 2021.'

Highlights include paintings by Bee Bartlett, who has created a stunning new series of paintings inspired by our very own Oxford. Sarah says, 'In this new series of work Bee captures the romance of golden light on the college buildings; on the cusp of twilight, with deep blue skies. They are rich and magical, making you want to go for a walk around the city centre.'

Bee has also focussed her attention on Port Meadow. 'As a local Bee understands the pull of the historic Port Meadow, it is a place we all feel a great affection for. More so than ever over the last year where it has become a key place to go for some space and connect with nature.'

Other local painters include Sarah Spackman, who is revealing a new series of still life paintings; and Helen Slater, who creates sparkling glass sculptures.

'You'll be able to see the new paintings and sculptures online for now, via our website, e-catalogue and social media - we're also excited to create fresh new window displays for those local to the gallery. A lovely way to get some culture into your daily walks!'

'We also have a great new 'view on a wall' feature on our website, so if something really catches your eye, you can simply click to get better impression of size and scale.'

All the works will be available to purchase online, with staff on hand in the gallery during the day to answer any queries over the phone or via email. 'You'll have the option to 'click and collect' or we can arrange delivery', says Sarah.

'We hope that this collection inspires a Spring-like mood and people will feel re-connected to the gallery while we get ready to welcome visitors again!'
