Macrame Wall Hanging Workshop

11am - 2pm

Shibori is the Japanese art of manual resist dyeing, which produces beautiful patterns on fabric made using indigo dye.
In this workshop you will learn the traditional methods of stitched and bound resist and be shown a number of different techniques which produce different results.
After making some samples on small pieces of fabric you will then be able to choose your preferred technique and prepare an item of your own using it. You can bring anything white or natural coloured that is made of natural fibres to use in the class. Pillowcases, cushion covers, fabric or clothing garments are perfect and cotton or linen works best.
The workshop will focus on learning how to prepare your fabric and you will come away with a good knowledge of the different shibori techniques. You will be given some indigo dye to take home with you and will be shown how to unpick your work after the dyeing process.
