The dream quality of Sharon Yamamoto's paintings is the soul of her work, made real by the exact line of her drawing, solid modelling of her figures and precision of her brushwork that take them out of the realm of wonder and into a real three-dimensional world. Children and animals, as both companions and guides, are consistent subjects in her bequiling paintings and drawings. Yamamoto's eye is informed by the subconscious mind and narrative symbolism, which she credits to her Japanese-American background, growing up in a household of three generations in Chicago. She has a loyal following of collectors in both the States and in the UK where she has exhibited regularly for over 25 years. This is her sixth exhibition in Holland Park.
