The Iníon Veigh - Art Gallery is an independent art space founded by local artist and designer Abbie Mc Veigh who uses the space to create work, coordinate workshops and host exhibitions complimenting the art scene in the North West. Located in Sligo’s town centre at 8 Lower John Street, Inion Veigh is also a specialty retail store offering an array of art and craft supplies as well as locally handmade items. Inion Veigh prides itself in providing a friendly community facility which offers inspiration and advice to amateurs, professionals and artisans alike. Abbie believes that there is “much to be gained by working together and appreciating what’s special here at home”. From March 24th – April 22nd The Iníon Veigh - Art Gallery will be presenting the début exhibition ‘Shared Dreamscapes’ by local arts collective ‘The Twisted Oak’

The Twisted Oak arts collective is a unique group of ten Visual artists, Crafters, Musicians and DJ’s from the rural north west of Ireland whose remote locations has created the need to connect, to inspire and be inspired; Sharing their creative progress and processes with discussions, exchanging advice, encouragement, feedback and critique. Instigated by award winning MFA graduate Harriet Myfanwy Nia Tahany, the collective has been actively meeting for the past two years and have built up lasting friendships as well as an inspiring and motivating environment for all involved. They have worked collaboratively as part of small arts festival committees and showcased their work collectively at arts and craft fairs.

Within the confines of each individuals isolated home and Studio life the Twisted Oak collective has served to draw out each artists struggle to engage the art scene alone by creating a unified front in which each artist can, with confidence and support create and exhibit their particular talents. This exhibition will be the first gallery opening and exhibition the group, as well as several of the members, will engage in. The show promises a diverse collection of contemporary visual work spanning the spectrum of Pop Surrealism, Kawaii and Fantasy genres, fashion and music integrates into the collective through their crafters and musical members, exploring the relationship between these creative practices within the group has been ongoing, identifying the spirit of a new generation of vibrant rural based artists. With diverse themes and techniques ranging from highly polished fine art oil paintings, thru fantasy themed watercolours, and into abstract sketches and acrylic paintings as well as some sound art created by the musical members of the collective. The exhibition will also showcase art prints, handmade fashions, jewellery, toys and crafts created by the group.

The Twisted Oak Arts Collective are Adriana Dorotová, Andrew Cann Art, Alex Nesbit (Burden), Brigid Smith (Raven Arts), Harriet Myfanwy Nia Tahany (Myfanwynia's Studio), Iliocht O’Brien (Kraven Brainz), Laura O'Donnell, Oisin Kavanagh (Phunty), Ramone Burthom-Booth (Ram art), and Vanessa (Miho) Cann.

This exciting exhibition will premiere its opening night on Thursday the 24th of March 6.00pm -10.pm at the Inion Veigh - Art Gallery – 8 Lower John Street, Sligo Town, all are welcome for a wine and nibbles reception!

The show will run until the 22nd of April with individual pieces available for purchase, everyone is invited and encouraged to come on down to support and view the work during this time.
