Start Education Programme: St Paul's CE Primary School, Cross Lane

Shadow Warriors is an exhibition inspired by the sculptural show, ‘Tipping Point', made and curated by Years 3 & 4 from St. Paul's CE Primary School, Cross Lane, Salford. The St. Paul's pupils came to visit and explore our exhibition 'Tipping Point'; artwork by UK Chinese artists Jamie Lau, Cindie Cheung & Andrew Lim. Working with local artist Samantha Donnelly for 2 months, they further explored the ideas and styles of the Tipping Point works through movement, text, sculpture, video and photography all of which are to be shown here together for the first time in our main gallery space! The children were inspired by the movement and stories of the work they saw; Andrew Lim's work reminded them of dragons, kites and the sea; they liked the reflection and disappearance of Jamie's work, finding it hypnotic, as if another world was lurking below the sculpture; they loved the beats and flashing lights of Cindie's piece. Throughout the project the children have developed new skills and worked with different materials to present their own exhibition ‘Shadow Warriors'; a group showcase of movement, light, performance and objects! The programme is part of the Start education programme created by the Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts (Children and the Arts). Children and the Arts was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales with the fundamental belief that every child has the right to be inspired by the arts. CFCCA is proud to have a long running relationship with Children and the Arts as a Start education partner.Start gives those arts venues judged to have exciting and imaginative projects and clear determination and passion to deliver work to new audiences, as well as the vital funding and specialist support to run long-term, high-quality arts projects with children from their local schools.
