Sergej Jensen will present a new body of works - abstracts monochromes and compositions made out of a wide range of fabrics, paint and oil - that will fully invest the space of the gallery in which Sergej Jensen will engage himself for the first time since the moving of the gallery in 2014.
About
Primarily known for his unconventional approach to minimalist painting, Sergej Jensen - who once described his work as “painting without paint”- creates abstract compositions through found and used textiles, fabrics, and other materials that often become incorporated in the physical process of cutting, stretching, sewing, bleaching, dyeing, washing, painting, or mixing. The desire to transgress the boundaries of genre has also led him in the past to work with the media of drawing, performance, installation and music. More recently, Sergej Jensen explored gurative painting through silk screen and acrylic works suggesting gures sourced from a wide range of different historical periods and schools, ranging from the Renaissance, to Romanticism, to early modernism.
