JANE HARRIS new works on paper - abstracts forms float and reflect as the sheen of the marks work in balance to the paper surface.
JO TAYLOR ceramic sculpture - modelled by the light with dramatic deep shadows drawing Rococo rhythms and curves.
About
In Jane Harris’ drawing and painting the motif floats and reflects as the sheen of the marks work in balance to the surface. Detailed adjustments made to the proportions, the edging and the relative positioning of the shapes, gives an unexpected individuality, visual rhythm and sensual playfulness. In the process of making paintings, the drawn shape is always the starting point. Selected Exhibitions : Espace culturel François Mitterrand, Périgueux; Odetta Gallery, Brooklyn, New York; Musée des Beaux Arts - Libourne. Selected Public Collections: Arts Council England; The Government Art Collection; Southampton City Art Gallery; Birmingham City Art Gallery; Colorado University Art Museum.
Jo Taylor’s ceramics are modelled by the light with dramatic deep shadows drawing rhythms and curves. There is a grand gesture reminiscent of a Rococo ornament and architectural
plasterwork. Taylor works from potters wheel to composing looping constructions in smooth white porcelain or dense black clay. She graduated in MA Design: Ceramics - (distinction) (2012). Selected Exhibitions: Holburne Museum, Bath; British Ceramics Biennial, Stoke on Trent; COLLECT, Saatchi Gallery. Selected Awards; 2014, Nominated by Yorkshire Sculpture Park for Perrier Jouet Arts Salon Prize. 2013, Shortlisted for V&A ceramicist in residence.
