In Jane Harris’ drawing and painting the motif floats and reflects as the sheen of the marks work in balance to the surface. Detailed adjustments made to the proportions, the edging and the relative positioning of the shapes, gives an unexpected individuality, visual rhythm and sensual playfulness. In the process of making paintings, the drawn shape is always the starting point.
