Send & Receive examines what’s gained and lost through contemporary mediums of communication. It treats spaces as unpredictable environments to deliver or answer a message. Do we reach out because we have something to say, or because we want to let the world know where we are?

About

Send & Receive captures the feeling of reaching out and hearing back in the pursuit of connection. It speaks in soft tones – holding your hand in the digital void it calls home.

The ways we encode thoughts, signal intent, and seek recognition have not changed - only the mediums have. Today’s technologies translate gestures, tone, and emotion into data, abstracting our most intimate ways of relating and turning them into formats designed for efficiency rather than nuance.

Send & Receive explores the tones of communication incorporating alternative mediums of installation, digital art, e-textiles, and performance. The show invites visitors to consider the small ways we express ourselves to try and be understood.

This exhibition, brought to you by art collective Poiesis, is presented by eight emerging London-based artists: Rosie Walker, Hannah Petter, Ina Hrešć, Luke Plowden, Ruiyang Wang, Garin Curtis, Yasemin Melek, and Adina Nicola.

The 6-week residency will be accompanied by a programme of lectures, workshops, and performances.

Send & Receive is Kindly supported by Sugar House Island in partnership with Hypha Studios and UAL CCI. The space/WC are wheelchair accessible.
