The Selvedge World Fair will launch its inaugural festival celebrating cloth, culture and creativity in London. A curated group of the world’s master artisans will join together to share their passion for textiles.
About
Expect indigo dyers from Japan, baskets makers from Swaziland, and rug weavers from Uzbekistan and many more. At the event, the master artisans will take part in a programme of demonstrations, offering the chance for guests to hear their stories and learn of the importance of their crafts in their home countries and to indulge in a little retail therapy. There will also be a range of workshops & talks.
Selvedge is unashamedly biased towards the handmade. This bias is at the heart of what we bring to our readers, and our workshops, socials and fairs are built around a passion for nurturing and promoting makers. The Selvedge World Fair is not only for textile aficionados - it will be a vibrant celebration of cloth: a festival that engages a new audience with the importance of the fabric of all our lives.
To ensure high standards of craftsmanship, exhibiting artisans will be required to submit an application demonstrating that their work either celebrates a traditional craft or offers an innovative interpretation of heritage crafts from their home country.
