An exhibition “Self-Portraits in Time of Epidemic and 12 173 conversations” by Spanish artist Agustin Fructuoso at Meno Parkas Gallery in Kaunas

About

An exhibition “Self-Portraits in Time of Epidemic and 12 173 conversations” by Agustin Fructuoso will open at the Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, Kaunas) on Wednesday, the 3rd of February, without an opening reception event.

Presented here is a project by Agustin Fructuoso, created during Covid-19 quarantine time, gaining its inspiration from difficulties we all had and still have to face, dedicated to keeping and nourishing connections and keeping art movements alive.

“I would like that one of the things to be understood is what it has meant on a communication level to send drawings to friends for 62 days. Between drawings sent, messages received by me and messages sent by me there have been 12,731 messages in total. This fact is superior to the aesthetic value that the drawings may have because what it demonstrates is the value of art and culture as an element of comfort and communication that helps to combat fear and discouragement in difficult collective and personal moments.” – Agustin Fructuoso.

Agustin Fructuoso - Spanish artist, curator. Graduated from the Univercity of Barcelona, Fine Art Studies. Co-founder of the TPK Art i Pensament Contemporani project space in L'Hospitalet (Spain). Since 1978 had many solo exhibitions and participated in the group exhibitions, contemporary art fairs and projects in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Hungary, etc. Currently lives in Barcelona and is actively engaged in creative activities.

Exhibition will be opened until the 28th of February.

Exhibition is a part of Meno Parkas Gallery project “Art Line”. Project is partly financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Kaunas City Municipality.

*Due to the increasing infections of COVID-19 and current regulations Meno Parkas gallery is closed for visitors until further notice. It will be possible to view exhibition online.
