Ira Schneider recently said, “I’m the grandfather of video art.” And indeed, his history in video art is older than that of most people on this planet. Legendary is the multi-channel video installation “Wipe Cycle”, which he exhibited together with Frank Gillette in 1969 in the the first group video exhibition “TV as a Creative Medium” at the Howard Wise Gallery in New York City. Since then, a tremendous amount of work and video material has been created, which Schneider continues to rearrange and process to this day. He will present ca. 20 shorter works or video collages from the last 50 years in Spor Klübü in a 2.5-hour screening.
