Our interpretation of our chosen subject; Secret Lives, is as diverse as our art. We work across a wide variety of media and styles; painting, drawing, collage, stitch work, sculpture, artists books, 3D and mixed media.
About
There are nine of us, from different backgrounds, all with our own distinctive voices. Our interpretation of our chosen subject; Secret Lives, is as diverse as our art. We work across a wide variety of media and styles; painting, drawing, collage, stitch work, sculpture, artists books, 3D and mixed media.
The result will be a feast of lively, witty, colourful and dynamic art works. Our aim for the show is to intrigue, perplex, bother and delight the eye and the minds of our viewers. We are making art which explores and interrogates what lies behind our own and other peoples' secret lives.
Some of us have been making art for many years; some are more recently formed artists. We started working alongside each other a mere 9 months ago. What brings us together, and what can be seen in every detail of our work due to go on show at the 5th Base is our passion for art making, our love of experimentation with materials and of teasing out interesting and complex ideas.
At the heart of our show is a shared desire to find creative and imaginative ways of expressing the hidden. Our subject, Secret Lives, has given us the opportunity to explore different narratives, both personal and public, to seek out the intriguing, the untold; and to tell expressive and dynamic stories through our art.
