Sean Edwards will discuss his practice and the new sculpture he is showing in our exhibition 'good things come...'
The talk will take place in our Studio Theatre from 5.30pm. Come along beforehand to see this exciting group show in The Gallery.
Sean Edwards makes work where objects are in progress, indeterminate and open to change. Approachable materials and familiar frames, neither incidental nor clearly directive, are ambivalent.
In installations, sculpture and images, Edwards' work acts against the moves of minimalism. Formal arrangements of everyday objects in modular shelving units accumulate anecdote and narrative. Objects and structures function as propositions; the audience is invited into the making.
Recent solo shows include Putting Right, Limoncello, London (2014); Drawn in Cursive parts 1-3, Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, and Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno (2014 - 2015). Group exhibitions include RESOURCE, The Bluecoat, Liverpool (2015), Un Nouveau Festival 2015, Centre Pompidou, Life Like, Transmission, Glasgow and the Zabludowicz Collection, London (2014).
good things come... is curated by Kevin Hunt and Hannah Harris and will be open Mon - Sat from 27 April - 4 June 2016.
