About
Sea Whisperers
On selected weekends this autumn Droit House will be transformed into Margate's very own âCuriosity Sea Shop'. Here you can share your weird and wonderful sea stories at the âWhispering Booth'. Bring along an interesting object related to your âWhisper' and we will add it to the Curiosity Shop. It could be a button, a shell from the beach or even a photograph.
Whether it's an old tale, a childhood recollection or local myth, simply share your personal experience of your town's connection with the sea.
Through a series of events with local enthusiasts, shanty crews, story tellers, natural navigators, sound musicians and animators, we are hoping to inspire everyone to tell their unique story and build upon Thanet's coastal heritage.
Droit House Weekend events 30th October - 12th December, everybody is welcome:

The Boat Project
27th and 28th November, 10-4pm
Be a part of artist duo Lone Twin's large-scale public art project commissioned for the Cultural Olympiad. Bring whatever wood you can spare to Droit House, to help to build a sea-faring boat in 2012.
Performance artists duo Lone Twin will be âsailing' alongside the Sea Whisperers events. From November 2010 until June 2012 the pair will embark on a large-scale public art project commissioned for the Cultural Olympiad called the âThe Boat project'.
This will lead to the building of a sea-faring boat constructed of wood donated by the local community. We are therefore inviting the people of East Kent to bring whatever pieces of wood they can spare to us at Droit House on 27th November, to help the building of the boat.
The boat will make a two-week maiden 'Olympic' voyage along the South coast to the Olympic site at Stratford, London in 2012.
