Second Year Sculpture students from Carmarthen School of Art have been given the exciting opportunity to create new site specific works in response to the historical gardens of Picton Castle.
About
The fascinating new works range in media and height from 1 to 20 feet. The sculpture trail will be open to the public from the 1st of April through to the 31st of October. The private view of the work, where you will be able to meet the artists, will be at 7pm on the 6th of May. A map will guide visitors to discover these intriguing works amongst the trails, and woodland of the garden.
The Sculpture degree course attracts students from all over the UK and featured in the exhibition will be work by artists from Manchester, London, Devon as well as Welsh artists who range in age from 20 to 70. The works have been created specifically for Picton Castle and feature themes such as the organic and mythology. The Sculpture course at Carmarthen School of art is renown for its skills based approach, particularly in Iron casting.
The historical gardens of Picton Castle have hosted many exhibitions over the years and currently host weddings as well as other functions.
