Join us at the RBS on Wednesday 21 January 2015 as the internationally celebrated sculptor Richard Wilson RA announces the winners of Sculpture Shock 2015.

About

‘Art is far too important to be confined within galleries alone, and our environment desperately lacks the humanising force of the artist’s imagination’ Richard Cork, art historian, editor, critic, broadcaster and 2013 Sculpture Shock jury member.

The Royal British Society of Sculptors is delighted to announce the SCULPTURE SHOCK 2015 finalists:

SUBTERRANEAN –  LYNN DENNISON, SEBASTIAN KITE, JESSICA LLOYD-JONES,

AMBULATORY – LUKE HART, JOCJONJOSCH, WILLIAM MACKRELL

HISTORIC – HANNA HAASLAHTI, QUYNH VANTU, GLORIA ZEIN

Join us on Wednesday 21 January 2015 as the internationally celebrated sculptor Richard Wilson RA announces the winners of Sculpture Shock 2015. The work of the three winning artists will appear in one of three, currently secret, environments: subterranean (the unseen world underneath our city), ambulatory (without physical confines in movement through space & time) and historic (an illustrious building in London).  Each winner will receive £3,000 and a three month residency in a studio in Kensington which will culminate in a 4 day pop-up show. Now in its third and final year this ground breaking award encourages surprising site specific spatial interventions in non-traditional spaces outside the confines of the white cube.

An exhibition displaying the finalist works and revealing the three currently secret pop-up exhibition locations will  be on display at the RBS galleries from Wednesday 14 January 2015. The six specially commissioned limited edition hand finished giclée or handmade screen prints conceived by the winners of Sculpture Shock 2013 and 2014 will also be on show and available to purchase. Each print has been signed, numbered and dated by the artist and are available to purchase which all proceeds from the sale going to the artist and to helping us continue our work advancing the art, practice and appreciation of contemporary sculpture in all its forms.

The SCULPTURE SHOCK award, now in its third and final year, is for 3 artists working in 3 dimensions and encourages surprising site specific spatial interventions in non-traditional spaces outside the confines of the white cube. The 2015 jury includes an illustrious panel of judges including artist Richard Wilson R.A and art critic, curator and lecturer Dave Beech. Previous juries included amongst others Sarah Kent, Cornelia Parker, and Richard Cork.
