Sculpture for an Art Lover is an exhibition of new sculptural work by Tom Allan presented in the Mackintosh Suite.
About
For this exhibition Allan has imagined the kind of artworks the owner of House for an Art Lover may have displayed. The works presented reference both Mackintosh and artistic styles from the first half of the 20th century, a period which has always influenced Allan’s work. He works mainly in stone and marble, but also in wood and bronze.
Programmed as part of the Mackintosh 150 celebrations.
Tom Allan has been making sculpture since 1977. He trained at Glasgow School of Art and in Carrara, Italy. His work is in public and private collections in Britain, Europe, Australia and the Americas and he has exhibited in galleries in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London, and in sculpture parks in Yorkshire, Leicester, the Cotswolds, and Hampshire. Commissions include public art projects in Glasgow, Motherwell, Serbia, and Mexico.
