This five-week course introduces you to the basics: mixing plaster, making a one-piece ‘sprig’ mould, casting low-relief tiles, and making a simple three- or four-part mould. You’ll have the chance to cast and fire your own ceramic object(s) to take away with you.

Slip-casting is the method of creating ceramic objects using liquid clay and plaster moulds. Most mass-produced, functional ceramic objects are produced this way, and it’s also a fantastic method for producing multiple objects for sculptural work. This five-week course introduces you to the basics: mixing plaster, making a one-piece ‘sprig’ mould, casting low-relief tiles, and making a simple three- or four-part mould. You’ll have the chance to cast and fire your own ceramic object(s) to take away with you.

– Participants must be a minimum 16 years of age
Class sizes are limited to ensure individual attention, access to equipment, and the opportunity for discussion so booking is essential.
