During the last four years Coventry based artist Martin Green has been investigating the notions of his materials which he finds in the streets, including multiple discarded, pens, legal and illegal drug packaging.
About
Scuffed Stories will intervene and react to the architecture and location of Angelika Studios This one day event includes an artist’s talk, a performance and a public construction of three sculptural pieces. Doors open at 2.45pm performance begins at 3pm
‘The starting point for the current work are objects that people, who live in and travel through cities and towns, lose, drop or discard, which I retrieve on my daily routine journeys. I document and reinvent cities through the objects that are found on city floors by using various methods of transforming found objects into art works. The recent sculptures and wall-mounted pieces explore issues relating to the urban environment.
I view found objects as materials to be dismantled, exposing the insides, revealing the underneath, directly painting onto, scratching into the surface. A process of exploring, destroying and transforming. The transformation process exposes stories relating to the urban environment creating fragile sculptural poems that bear witness to the shifting shape of our society.’
Martin Green’s recent projects include:
