About

The group show scratch the surface is a continuation of the last published journal by The Plantation Journal with the title Sculptural Surface.

Seven artists are selected for the show, which is a mixture of already exciting body of work or new commission work for the show.

The work is communicating different aspects of the subject surface, where variations in techniques and materials are being used, but what they share is that they are all photographers exploring the medium combined with other techniques; as scanning, painting, tape, drawing, collage and fabric.

The artists treats the surface as sculpture, and it has become multi-dimensional. The work has been explored in-camera, or manipulated outside of it. They all present surface as something to question.

Although surface often represents a starting point, when seen through a sculptural lens, that beginning departs from its seemingly linear narrative, becoming something far more profound. The artists on view at scratch the surface see surface though vastly different point of view, and they are presented here as a heterogeneous collection.
