Science & Fiction Book Launch and One-Night-Exhibition

About

Science & Fiction is the fourth book showcasing the most recent work produced by the Royal College of Art (RCA) Photography Programme.

Science & Fiction situates fresh talent from one of the UK's most innovative photography courses alongside texts by novelists, artists, academics and philosophers. Through the channels of science and fiction—science as data, image algorithms and the surrender to technological temptations; and fiction as invention, construction and critique—these emerging photographers address the questions and tensions that surround the current state of the photographic image.

To celebrate the launch of Science & Fiction, WORK is hosting a one-night-only exhibition by 20 emerging international artists whose works engage with photography's dexterity in generating potential visions of the future. WORK is delighted to announce writer and artist Tom McCarthy as our special guest speaker for the launch.

Science & Fiction features texts by Zinovy Zinik, Mark Aerial Waller, Alexander Garcàa Düttmann, Michael Salu, Olivier Richon, Martin Shepley, Young June Lee and Chloe Aridjis and follows on from previous annual collaborations between the RCA and Black Dog Publishing: Waving Flags, Seeing for Others and Hardcover. The series is edited by renowned photographer Rut Blees Luxemburg.
