About

Space and its perception occupy a central place in the works of Susanne Schär & Peter Spillmann. Thereby they are never only concerned with architecture and form. With reduced interventions in the given situation, they evoke further readings, refer in the figurative sense to social and mental spaces and the conceptions they create.

For Axel Obiger, the spatial starting position is zoned. There is a Before and a Behind. “Shifting” is a movable room divider that plays with the dimension of the space and takes up secondary details.

In addition, further works with a thematic reference are set. On the one hand, the photographic series “Scanning Landscape” fills the length of the space through its sequence. These are images generated by the faulty technique of panorama photography at high speed in a train or during a car journey. The result is a kind of ornament with mostly repetitive and abstracted partial landscapes, which are created by the sequence of image sections of a landscape. - In their accumulated time span the images captured in this way reflect the over all view in a moment.

“Walkabout” is a multi-part work consisting of sculptural plaster objects. In their handy form, the individual parts are reminiscent of climbing wall handles or computer mice, all forms that provoke a haptic perception. Staged in the space like a path that transcends works, this installation makes it possible to tread the space mentally.

They are all works from the artist's current oeuvre. It remains to be seen whether there will be further intervention on site.
